A strong, united partnership
The Sarganserland-Werdenberg Regional Association (RSW) was established in 2009, bringing together the 14 municipalities between Quarten, Bad Ragaz and Sennwald. The association represents the interests of over 80,000 residents.
Tasks and projects that affect the entire region and require a coordinated approach are dealt with and coordinated jointly by the relevant municipalities in Sarganserland and Werdenberg. The Sarganserland-Werdenberg Regional Association acts as a link between the municipalities and the cantonal and national administrations, and is particularly focused on issues surrounding spatial planning, transport and education policy. The combined organisation’s working groups for housing, land management, the environment or energy serve to underline the many areas in which it can exert a positive influence.
The association aims to act as a driving force behind the region’s development, and as an influential voice in political discussions. As a regional association based in the South of the Canton of St. Gallen, we are committed to encouraging cooperation and exchanges on transborder issues, including with regional and cantonal committees and with the Principality of Liechtenstein.
Communication and information
The Sarganserland-Werdenberg Regional Association proactively provides our residents with information on current issues, as well as coordinating communication from and between various stakeholders and partners. Working together to market the region as a place to live and work is becoming an ever more important focus for our communication activities.
Our regional activities are funded by residents’ membership fees, collected by the municipalities concerned. We also have various service agreements in place with a number of cantonal offices.
