The Walensee provides aquatic fun for the whole family, at the same time as providing a breathtaking setting for a variety of events. You probably knew that already. But what about the Voralpsee near Grabs? It’s a real hidden gem – so good the locals like to keep it to themselves. The magical Werdenbergersee, near the town of Werdenberg, is every bit as captivating – and the castle with which it shares its name provides a stunning backdrop.
Dreamy mountain landscape
The hiking and skiing areas at Pizol and Flumserberg are there for you to enjoy all year round. You can climb them on foot or on your bike, or you can always let the gondola take you up. So, what will it be? Skiing or hiking? Speaking of hiking – the classic Swiss Pizol Five Lake Trail has captivated generations of hikers but there are plenty of other options, too: Staubern, Mutschen, Margelchopf, Alvier, Gonzen, Churfirsten or Spitzmeilen all stretch just as temptingly into the sky, and are every bit as worth a visit as the region’s beautiful valleys, from the Weisstannental to the Taminatal, with its imposing arched bridge, or the Calfeisental, home to the Walser settlement of St. Martin. Alternatively, a range of themed routes across the region bring children’s stories and classic tales to life. Why not discover them for yourself?
