Expert group shares experience on topics related to energy and the environment
Topics related to the environment and energy are also gaining importance in the Sarganserland-Werdenberg region, which is why the former Regional Energy Commission has formed a new expert group. Divided into two subgroups on Environment and Energy, they will promote specific projects and exchange ideas.
The Energy subgroup is concerned with issues relating to the energy transition. One significant project is the photovoltaic campaign implemented in cooperation with the St. Gallen Energy Agency. The group also aims to create an “Energy Region” and take part in the national funding programme. Most municipalities in the Sarganserland-Werdenberg region already hold an “Energy Town” certificate.
The Environment subgroup discusses environmental policy. Projects within the municipalities are discussed and expanded to other municipalities. The group’s focus areas include promoting biodiversity and controlling neophytes. In addition, they will organise and promote the litter pick, which also takes place across the border in the Principality of Liechtenstein.
