Paths, pistes and sports facilities for athletes of all abilities
Whether you’re a skier, hiker, cyclist, swimmer or golfer, our region offers perfect conditions for exercise of all kinds. In the early summer, winter sport areas transform into a paradise for hikers and mountain bikers, with hundreds of kilometres of paths and trails.
Nature is calling – it’s time to get out there! Sarganserland-Werdenberg offers the perfect mountain experience all year round, whether you’re exploring by gondola, on foot or on a mountain bike. The area’s stunning scenery is matched only by the quality of its infrastructure. If you prefer your routes nice and flat, feel free to use the regional and national cycle path networks to explore the villages by bike or on in-line skates. Water lovers are spoiled for choice, too, with the Walensee, numerous mountain lakes and public pools spread throughout the region. And skiers and snowboarders are sure to get their money’s worth on the pistes at Flumserberg and Pizol.
Sports facilities across the region
Our municipalities offer a full spectrum of sports facilities to meet the needs of all the local clubs, as well as football pitches, indoor tennis and squash courts, climbing centres, indoor and outdoor swimming pools, fitness courses, pump tracks, mini golf courses and more. And if you fancy playing a full 18 holes, you won’t find much better than the courses at Bad Ragaz and Gams.
Competitions and the slowUp
If you fancy testing your sporting mettle, you will find a range of competitions and tournaments running throughout the year. The first Sunday in May sees the annual slowUp Werdenberg-Liechtenstein, a special event for the whole family. For one day, 44 kilometres of main roads, passing through no fewer than ten different municipalities, are closed to all motorised traffic. It’s a perfect opportunity for cyclists of all ages to get on their bikes and enjoy the ride.
And if you need to relax and recover after your exertions, how does the Tamina thermal spa at Bad Ragaz sound?
