In Buchs, there is one more reason to use public transport. Flott-Bikes are now available in the "Energy City". Harry Müntener, Managing Director of Marketing Buchs, explains "Flott-Bikes are ideal for the way from the bus stop to the place of work or an exploration tour through Buchs and the area."
Marketing Buchs followed the introduction of the Flott-Bikes in Liechtenstein last year and contacted the initiators, two students from the University of Liechtenstein. Harry Müntener says: "Our opinion is that this ecological mobility option fits very well with the "Energy City" of Buchs, which is why we are pleased to be the first town in Switzerland to offer Flott-Bikes." The goal is clear: to encourage the population to try out new forms of mobility and to reduce CO2 while having fun.
To use the Flott-Bikes, you need the app "Linka Go". This is available for Apple and Android devices. Select the provider Flott-Bike-Sharing, register and follow the instructions in the app. The next available Flott-Bike is displayed on a map. The bike is unlocked by scanning the barcode or entering the number of the bike lock. After the ride, the e-bike can be parked again at a marked Flott-Bike station. In Buchs there are currently the following locations: bus stop at the police station, bus station at the railway station, cantonal bank on Bahnhofstrasse, town hall, EW electricity and water works and Werdenbergersee. According to Marketing Buchs, further locations are being clarified.
The condition of the e-bike should be checked both before and after use. Report any problems to the support team immediately. It is the responsibility of the users to park and lock the Flott-Bikes properly at the bike places. Riding the Flott-Bikes is allowed from the age of 16. A driving licence is not required. The same traffic rules apply as for bicycles. Flott-bike riders should wear a helmet and use cycle paths.
Prices and all other information can be found on the Marketing Buchs website and on the Flott-Bike platform.
